DreamWorks Animation(often referred only asDreamWorksand formerlyDreamWorks Animation SKG) is an American animation studio company based on Glendale, California. It was formerly a division ofDreamWorks Picturesbefore became an independent company in 2004 and since 2016, it is a subsidiary ofNBCUniversal(Comcast) through itsUniversal Picturesunit.
Although DreamWorks Animation was an independent studio from 2004 until 2016, it didn't always release its titles on its own. It once had a distribution deal withParamount Pictures, as a result of Viacom's acquisition of the original DreamWorks, and then20th Century Fox. As a result of the studio's acquisition by Comcast,Universal Picturesholds the distribution rights to all DWA titles.

This logo first debuted with and was used on the trailers forAntz(1998) andThe Prince of Egypt(1998).DreamWorks Animation SKGdid not use an on-screen logo until 2004; prior to that year, theDreamWorks Pictureslogo was used in its place.
