Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong utilize “Happy Herb’s Ice Cream” truck, repainted to read “Nice Dreams,” to peddle marijuana instead of ice cream. They meet a man at the beach, not realizing the transaction was set-up by police Detective Drooler and Detective Noodles. After the deal is complete, however, Drooler cannot start his car and is unable to pursue Cheech and Chong. While driving away, Chong wonders how much money they have earned and Cheech calculates their wealth at $17 million. Meanwhile, Drooler and Noodles go to the “Narcothon” police division and report to Sergeant “The Sarge” Stedanko, who was surreptitiously smoking a marijuana cigarette before their arrival. Drooler and Noodles report that the “ice cream” sticks bought in the undercover operation are filled with marijuana. Drooler wants to arrest Cheech and Chong, but Sarge insists the evidence must be analyzed by the police laboratory. He dismisses his men, then purloins some of the evidence to smoke, bl

Nice Dreams - it rhymes with ice creams. And that's what Cheech and Chong are selling in this thoroughly wacky comedy. The outrageous, permanently spaced-out duo sells enough of their "specially mixed" ice cream to take the cash and realize their fondest dreams: new guitars, islands in the sun and beautiful women. But, of course, not everything goes as planned. While celebrating their wealth in a new wave Chinese restaurant, Cheech meets his long-lost love Donna, and promptly escorts her to her posh penthouse. He soon learns, however, that Donna's boyfriend, an ex-con named Animal, is on his way to her boudoir. Meanwhile, Chong has unwittingly exchanged all their money for a worthless bank check - and the only way to get it back is to escape into a nearby insane asylum.

Superlative stoners Cheech (Cheech Marin) and Chong (Tommy Chong) realize that one of their pals is developing a strain of pot that slowly morphs smokers into reptiles. They begin hawking the one-of-a-kind grass while disguised as ice-cream sellers, but the police, led by Sgt. Stedanko (Stacy Keach), are rather suspicious of the operation. When Stedanko manages to sneak some "ice cream" from the boys and promptly sprouts a forked tongue, Cheech and Chong must go on the lam.
